The Third Annual East Texas Comedy Festival Sets Massive Lineup of Comedy Talent

The Conan O’Brien Show, MADtv, Reno 911, Key and Peele, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and That 70’s Show are
just a handful of credits the headliners of the Third Annual East Texas
Comedy Festival bring to the stage of Liberty Hall on June 13th and
14th for a weekend of comedy with an edge!

Friday June 13th will feature Stand-up comedy:

Local favorite Brandon Davidson will
host a night of standup comedy starting at 8 pm and worthy of a Comedy
Central Special featuring Daryl Felsberg and headliner Jimmy Pardo from The Conan O’Brien Show. Friday will also feature the winner of “The Funniest Comic in East Texas 2014”.

This year we are adding a special late night show, starting at 11pm.
This comedy will not be for “the faint at heart” this is the grown folks
show……if you like sweet, clean comedy then – stay away from the
Liberty starting at 11 p.m. on Friday!

Our Start Standup Headliner: Jimmy Pardo

Jimmy Pardo spends nearly his entire set interacting with, and making fun of, his audience. Everything he observes or thinks, he immediately scans to find the funny. Jimmy’s raucous-but-smart weekly podcast, Never Not Funny,
is the No. 2 paid podcast hosted by a comedian, and was voted by iTunes
and USA Today as one of the top podcasts of 2006 and 2007. His guest
list reads like a Who’s Who of comedy. Conan O’Brien, Richard Lewis,
Patton Oswalt, and Sarah Silverman have all been guests.

Jimmy continues to headline at some of America’s top comedy clubs and currently works as Conan O’Brien’s opening act on Conan, where he warms the studio audience up before the show and he did the same for Conan on The Tonight Show.
In addition to providing content for Teamcoco.com and appearing on the
show in sketches or as a frequent guest, Jimmy recently filled in as
Conan’s sidekick for several shows. He has performed on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. He had his own half-hour special, Comedy Central Presents Jimmy Pardo. He hosted National Lampoon’s Funny Money on the Game Show Network, and was the co-host of AMC’s Movies at Our House for four seasons. He has hosted episodes of VH1’s The Surreal Life and Love Lounge and NBC’s Late Friday.

Saturday night we will feature Improv Comedy:

The night of all things made up will bring a night of improv madness not for the easily offended. Kicking off at 8 pm is Card 53, who just recently added members of Dallas’s Fourth Wall Comedy. Then “Alice and Edward”
will get a one-word suggestion to inspire a series of scenes never
performed before. Performed and done completely off the cuff exploring
characters and relationships much like an improvised sitcom.

Improv Headliner: “Alice and Edward”

Alice & Edward are the middle
names of Susan Messing and Frank Caeti. Susan lives in Chicago, Frank
lives in Los Angeles. They perform long form improvisation together
anytime they are in the same city.

Frank Caeti, is
an alumnus of The Second City Chicago where his credits include:
National

Touring Company, two resident company stages (Chicago E.T.C.
& Las Vegas), Reverie (a nonverbal sketch comedy show), and Twist
Your Dickens at the Kirk Douglas Theater. He can be described as a

The Chicago Tribune said of Caeti, “astonishingly deft at range of characters…a future rock star of comedy.”
Susan Messing is a
New Jersey native and graduate of Northwestern University’s Theatre
School. She has been an improviser and comedian for over twenty-five
years and is one of the most fearless performers in the history of
improvisation. She is is an alumna of the iO Theatre, Second City’s

Theatre.

Susan created and has taught her curriculum at iO and iO West, The
Annoyance Theatre, The Second City, and around the country. Susan is an
adjunct instructor for DePaul University, The University of Chicago, and
The School at Steppenwolf.

Her standup act with her puppet, Jolly, was featured at the HBO/US Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen, and on Comedy Central’s Premium Blend and NBC’s Late Fridays. Her most impressive bit movie role was as a bad stripper in a halo brace in Let’s Go to Prison! You can see her every Thursday night in her critically acclaimed show, Messing with a Friend, now in its seventh year at The Annoyance Theatre. She has been delighted to participate in the TBS Just For Laughs Festival every year since its Chicago debut.
